Domestic tunnel series base dimensions

Exact base dimensions for the Redpath domestic tunnel series models.
The tunnelhouse is already supplied with aluminum base rails however if you wish to build a separate additional base and rest the tunnelhouse onto it, then It is important to build the bases exactly to size as shown, as the internal base rail needs to finish flush with the inner edge of the base boards. The base should be level across the buildings width and length.

The base may be made from timber or sleepers. It is a personal choice of style and appearance, however the base must be well secured to the ground as the frame will be relying on it for security in high winds.

If soft ground (peat, sand, loose soils) etc. prevail, then take extra care to ensure that the base is secured with deeper ground anchors (pegs, reinforcing rod etc.)

Note that adding a base will increase the height of the tunnelhouse and require you to step ‘over’ the taller base to enter the tunnelhouse.
