Redpath Dairy/Beef building designs

Designed and manufactured in New Zealand by Redpath our animal housing designs use either a clear high light transmitting Duratough or white shaded Durashield canvas roofing for an efficient and effective on-farm animal shelter system for NZ farmers.
They are fully NZ building code compliant design engineered structures that utilise high-tensile RHS steel with long-life coatings, 12mm fully bolted 4mm plate connections, and cold rolled ‘walk-through’ wide steel gutters. The gutters are standard on all pole lines (including the exterior walls). Redpath constructs on site nationwide.
Redpath shelters are offered up to a 15m clear-span and many spans may be inter-connected side-by-side to suit a variety of site sizes and different uses.  A central drive-thru service or feed-lane is often included as part of a multi-span layout. The most popular span is the 12.8m span module, as it offers great durability and cost-effectivness.

Ventilation can be an important consideration for the animals in summertime and Redpath’s apex mounted rack and pinion roof ventilation system offers superior management of internal temperatures and humidity. Our roof vent creates natural air flow across the animal as warm air is evacuated through the opening at the apex which then draws in cooler fresh air in through the walls. Air movement cools the animals and dry’s the floor + reduces odour. The roof ventilation system is usually fully automatically controlled and includes automatic wind and rain shutdown however if required a manually operated roof vent can be supplied for shorter length buildings.

The most popular roof cladding is the Duratough heavy duty clear cladding, but Durashield super long-life white canvas fabric is also often selected.
Duratough is a clear extruded vinyl and offers a high level of light transmittance and PAR (photo-synthetic active radiation) to pass through and this has a substantial effect on the drying of the floor and keeping the flooring and stock healthy + ammonia levels within the shelter extremely low.
The sunshine through the clear roofing reduces the likelihood of any wet soggy floors, limiting the incidence of bacteria growth. this becomes particularly important during winter which often coincides with the shelters most intensive use.
Durashield white pigmented canvas fabric offers the longest service life of up to 15 years. The white colour does not offer the same drying ability due to its natural shade factor but it does offer cooler summertime housing temperatures and an extreme lifespan and a great suitability to extreme wind sites or for clients that want minimal maintenance.
With Redpath shelters you can select either clear Duratough or White canvas Durashield  fabric and in the future you can choose to swap from either one of these to the other type!, which keeps our customers options open if they choose to change their primary use of the shelter.

Other optional extras with Redpath animal shelters are Side eave extensions to cover feed troughs, Overhead internal shade screens, End and Sidewall cladding options, Overhead or Extraction electric air circulation fans

Redpath operates 16 construction teams, and we build nationwide. We manage the building permit application, supply complete plan sets and site plan sets, and can also help process resource consents if/when they arise.
Redpath have supplied and erected 1000s of these commercial designs throughout NZ over our 40+ year history. We include a full set of NZ registered engineers’ drawings and Producers statement for council building permit processing are included as standard.
